There was intense competition on Saturday on the Lake of the Ozarks during the Lake of the Ozarks Watershed Alliance 2 Dam Days Extreme Paddle Marathon from Truman to Bagnell Dam.
For the first time in four years racing, Olympic champion Mike Herbert’s first day solo time was beat by multiple Guinness Book of World record holder Carter Johnson. The two racers were neck and neck all day, until the wind and waves picked up, and Johnson’s wave surfing expertise kicked in, and he took off like a rocket.
Today is going to be another day. According to LOWA Executive Director/Race Sponsor Donna Swall, if the wind and waves are not as high, she looks for another intense head to head race.
To cheer the racers into the finish line on Sunday go to Beavers at the Dam in Lake Ozark. There will also be a dinner and awards ceremony at Beavers at the Dam.
