A Climax Springs School District bus carrying students to school slid off a road and came to rest on its side against a tree on Route FF this morning. All seven students on the bus were taken to Lake Regional Hospital to be checked out; none of them were seriously injured according to Superintendent Michael Diekmann:
In addition to the driver and students, a substitute driver in training was also on the bus. Diekmann says there were some communication issues reporting the incident. The antenna for the two-way radio on the bus broke off in the accident and there was cellphone signals are weak in that area:
The driver says the accident happened when the bus hit a patch of black ice. The Highway Patrol is investigating.
