The trial for “Lunch Lady” Cassie Franklin is scheduled to get underway this morning in a Camden County courtroom. Franklin is accused of pocketing more than $125-thousand from parents and students paying for lunches in the Camdenton R3 School District. The Class-B felony charge, which goes back to August of 2009, was filed in December of 2014 when Franklin turned herself in and posted a $7-thousand cash bond. Circuit Judge Kenneth Hayden is presiding over the case. If convicted, Franklin could be sentenced to 5-15 years in the Department of Corrections, plus restitution.
