Pay up or potentially lose out…a word of caution from collectors of revenue around the Lake Area and statewide. The 4th Monday of August is the date for this year’s delinquent property tax sales. Bill Harvey, Miller County Collector of Revenue, says going on the auction block will be properties whose owners are behind in paying taxes for three years..
Those who are behind three years of paying taxes can save their properties by paying, at least, one year up until the time of the sale. Otherwise, successful bidders on delinquent properties must wait one year to allow original property owners to make good on paying for the sale, publishing and interest. It’s estimated that about half of the properties on the delinquent tax sale list will be redeemed before the auctions.
