It’s a case of good news and bad news for the Missouri Department of Transportation and, ultimately, for Lake Area roadways. That’s according to MoDOT Central District Engineer Bob Lynch who appeared, Monday, on the Ozarks This Morning program. Lynch says a new Federal Highway bill coupled with people driving more means higher revenue to go toward roadway projects. However, that funding will only go toward maintaining what we currently have.
Lynch goes onto say that any real future expansion and maintaining current projects past the next five years will depend on new funding. That new funding could come in the way of higher gasoline taxes or possibly establishing toll roads. Those are just a couple options that have been talked about over recent years.
