Ameren Missouri is getting greener. The company has announced major initiatives to add wind and solar energy over the next ten years.
That’s Ajay Arora, the Vice President of Energy Services and Generation Planning for Ameren. He says the wind power alone will be enough to serve 200,000 new homes. The company also announced plans to cut carbon emissions by 50% by 2050. That will mean phasing out more than half of their coal-fired energy.
That includes retiring the Meramec Energy Center in St. Louis County within five years.
