The Eastern Missouri ACLU’s got an issue with the Camdenton R-III school district. They’ve sent a letter to the district demanding changes their internet content filtering. ACLU says that system violates First Amendment, and the Equal Access Act, by blocking access to websites dealing with lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender people. The ACLU says districts filter internet content to block things like porn, but sometimes they also block anything related to sexuality, and kids can’t access educational material or anti-bullying information. They can see content relating to the GOP, but not GOProud.org, a website for conservative LGBT people. The district says it’s not intentionally filtering anything concerning alternative lifestyles. The district’s attorney’s says any group can look at their filtering and find fault, but think they protect kids and while giving them access.
