Volunteers from around the lake will be heading out this weekend to start cleaning up before fall sets in. The Adopt-the-Shoreline program begins Saturday and will last through October 31st. More than 14,500 volunteers have participated in the program since it began in 1991. During the last cleanup effort, they removed 732 cubic yards of trash, including dock parts and jet ski lifts. Ameren Missouri sponsors the program and provides trash bags, administrative support, and the funding necessary to dispose of the garbage and debris removed by volunteers.
