Air Quality may be an issue for those in sensative groups as smoke from a controlled burn in Mark Twain National Forest are planned . The Springfield-Greene County Health Department say the Air Quality Index will be “Moderate” to “‘Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups” this afternoon. Officials also say that if the situation doesn’t get better, it could make air quality in the Queen City “Unhealthy.” Particulate matter may contain fine particles that contain microscopic solids or liquid droplets that can become embedded into the lungs and cause serious health problems. Multiple scientific studies have linked particle pollution exposure to a variety of problems. If you are in one of the unhealthy groupsa, you may want to avoid outside activities today. The division of Air Quality Control will continue to monitor this situation and provide detailed updates on the quality of the air
