You can’t always judge a book by its cover…that may be especially true when it comes to a November ballot issue asking for the motor fuel tax, statewide, to be increased by 10-cents per gallon over a four-year period. The issue has been debated and billed as being earmarked for transportation needs which, according to MoDOT area engineer Bob Lynch, may not necessarily be entirely accurate.
Lynch goes on to say, from the way the State constitution is currently set up, whatever is left over AFTER those entities are funded, will go toward MoDOT operations. The issue is set to appear on the November 6th General Election ballot.
