The former special prosecutor in the Brandon Ellingson drowning case has issued a statement regarding the alleged conflict of interest that led to her stepping aside from the case. In a press release, Amanda Grellner states quote “I have withdrawn my complaint against Sergeant Randy Henry because I do not wish to be involved in any further proceedings between Sergeant Henry and the Patrol” unquote. Grellner is also attempting to clear her name and any remaining suspicion against her son who was questioned in a sexual assault case involving a young girl but was never a suspect in the case. However, Grellner’s attorney says that kept getting brought up in connection with the drowning investigation. The Highway Patrol also recently announced the cancellation of the procedural hearing board scheduled for this week. The hearing would have provided both sides an opportunity to present evidence in the matter of the proposed disciplinary action against Sergeant Randy Henry. Henry was subject to discipline after he criticized the way the Highway Patrol conducted the investigation into the drowning of Brandon Ellingson while in the custody of the Highway Patrol’s Water Division.
