The Amber Alert system is in the process of being updated. According to The Missouri Highway Patrol they are now in the final stages of the update, which was called for after the 2014 abduction and murder of Springfield girl Haley Owens in which it took two hours to issue an Amber Alert. Money for the update will come from the state’s general revenue fund after lawmakers voted to set aside the funds needed to make the proposed changes. It is hoped that the update will save time and which ultimately could save lives.
