Ameren Missouri is recommending federal regulators allow 215 non-conforming decks, patios, gazebos and boathouses to remain standing at the Lake of the Ozarks. Ameren calls the proposal announced today a final step toward addressing encroachments at the lake. In its report filed today with the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, Ameren says it counted more than 4,400 individual structures within the project boundary of its Shoreline Management Plan, and most comply with allowed uses and permitting guidelines. Shoreline Management supervisor Jeff Green says they determined the non-cinforming structures have no effect on Ameren’s ability to safely manage the Lake of the Ozarks. FERC officials will now begin reviewing Ameren’s report and recommendations, and a 30-day public comment period is expected to begin soon.
