Solar energy is becoming available to several customers who previously haven’t had access to it. A new program by Ameren Missouri allows residents and businesses to purchase solar power that is produced off-site. Under the Community Solar plan, you can subscribe to receive up to half of you annual average power provided from a solar farm to be built near the St. Louis Lambert International Airport. Matt Forck says it’s a great opportunity for people who want to use solar but either can’t afford to install the panels on their homes or face other obstacles that prevent it.
The price of your solar power will be slightly higher than normal electricity, but it’s locked in over the length of the contract, which could save you money during times when traditional power prices tend to fluctuate. For more information go to www.amerenmissouri.com/communitysolar.
