Ameren Missouri is warning customers of yet another fake scam trying to steal their money.

Officials say the scammers are posing as Ameren Employees and are once again, threatening to disconnect service if you don’t pay them.

Ameren’s Maria Gomez says customers should look for things that seem wrong, such as a masked phone number or an employee who is demanding payment immediately.

She says other scammers are also calling residents, saying they’ve overpaid on their Ameren bill. The callers request your personal bank information for your “refund.”

Gomez is also warning against scammers who may come to your home in fake Ameren trucks.

If you believe a scammer is targeting you, she suggests you hang up and contact their main office line at 1-800-552-7583 to speak with an Ameren Official instead, or in the case of someone coming to your door, do not answer unless you were expecting service repairs.
