Ameren Missouri is offering it’s take on water quality concerns at Lake of the Ozarks.
The EPA has proposed putting the lake on a list of impaired waterways because nutrient levels are high.
Warren Witt with Ameren points out Lake of the Ozarks and Truman Lake both had huge amounts of water going through in 2018 and that dynamic can create high nutrient levels due to sediments.
Witt says it has to do with the eco-region the Lake Area is in.
He says part of the fix for the high nutrient levels could be low-impact landscaping around Lake of the Ozarks.
A 60-day comment period is currently underway regarding the EPA’s announcement.
Witt was interviewed by Kevin Burns on the KRMS Morning Magazine.
