Ameren UE is waiting for word back from the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission on its shoreline management plan. If approved, Ameren would be granted a 40 year permit to generate electricity at the Bagnell Dam.
Jeff Green from Ameren says his company is taking land inventory this summer, preparing to implement rules across their map.
“We’ve taken photos now in 1999, 2004, and 2008. That creates a historic record, current record of what’s going on out there. We’ve overlaid that with our project boundary, which is the black line that goes around and shows some changes based on elevation,” said Green.
The small band of ownership that Ameren has is now marked across the 1,150 miles of shoreline. Green says the company’s inventory focus this summer is what may be built.
“Our focus right now is on vacant lots that are entirely within our project property because we feel that the biggest need right now is to communicate with someone who hasn’t built a home.”
“I must say that most of the properties that we’re dealing with there are 1960’s and 70’s vintage. They’ve been around for a while.”
