If you live or own a home on the lake and you decide to blow your leaves into the water, not only are you potentially affecting water quality but you are also breaking the law. Brian Vance, from Ameren-Missouri, says it may be an inconvenience to properly dispose of your leaves but it’s a case of just being a good neighbor.
Vance goes on to say burning leaves near a seawall also creates a problem because the remaining ash contains the same nutrients that could affect water quality if the ash ends up in the lake.
