Two local powerboat racers die after an accident Wednesday at the Key West Super Boat World Championships.
Bob Morgan of Sunrise Beach and Jeffrey Tillman of Kaiser were in Big Thunder on the third lap of the first day of racing when the 46-foot skater blew over and flipped backwards, landing on the bow, then on its top.
Rodrick Cox, spokesperson for Super Boat International Productions says rescuers were out quickly.
Morgan and Tillman were taken to Keys Medical Center where they later died. Cox spoke about Bob Morgan.
Racers in Key West will hold a memorial this morning at the race pits at the Truman Waterfront.
