For the second time in as many weeks, a house fire in Miller County claims a life. This time, personnel from the Cole County Fire Protection District responded late Tuesday afternoon to the location on Old Ten Mile Road. Upon arrival, according to public information officer Steve Cearlock, the farmhouse was pretty much fully involved and firefighters received information that there may have been somebody trapped inside.
Firefighters were on the scene for about six hours before being called back to the same location around 5:00 Wednesday morning after a reported explosion…the house already leveled before they arrived on the scene the second time. Miller County Sheriff Louie Gregoire says the investigation has determined that the fire was, apparently, not suspicious.
The victim is identified as 57-year-old Sandra Bush. A second occupant, Bush’s boyfriend, was not home at the time of the fire.
