A former state trooper involved in the death of an Iowa college student at Lake of the Ozarks is appealing a decision that would prevent him from returning to law enforcement. Earlier this year Anthony Piercy’s peace officer license was revoked by the Department of Public Safety. The decision was based on Piercy’s violation of the law as well as his failure to follow departmental policies in relation to the death of Brandon Ellingson in 2014. The latest ruling against him found that he failed to provide safe treatment to an individual in custody. Piercy is again asking a court to review the decision. His license was originally revoked last year but was sent back to the DPS following a court review.
