Many people believe that a majority of the firefighters in the area are paid firefighters who do it as a career. Mid-County Chief Scott Frandsen says that is a big misconception.
Chief Frandsen says that covering around one-third of the county and only having three people at the station at any given time makes things very difficult. He also says that finding volunteers is tougher than it used to be because of the training, certification, and time commitment state and federal laws require now. Applications to volunteer are posted on the district’s website.
