Voters will head to the polls in little over a month to decide the fate of a number of local and state races. One that is receiving a lot of attention is Amendment Three which deals with teacher tenure. It proposes to link a teacher’s job evaluation and pay with student performance. The Amendment would also end current tenure protections for newly hired teachers. Recently three Lake Area school districts came out in opposition to the proposed amendment. The Warsaw R-9, Macks Creek R-5 and Camdenton R-3 Boards of Education have adopted resolutions advocating for the Amendment’s defeat due to their belief that it would take away local control. Voters will decide the fate of Amendment Three November 4th.
