The swimming beaches at Mark Twain and Harry S Truman state parks have reopened. Missouri’s Department of Natural Resources says the Lake of the Ozarks State Park’s Grand Glaize Beach, also known as Public Beach #2, is still closed after water samples taken Monday showed bacteria levels higher than those recommended for swimming. The park’s Public Beach #1, in Kaiser, remains. Higher bacteria levels are often associated with heavy rains that result in runoff from adjacent land. However, there are a number of possibilities that can lead to higher bacteria, and chances are no single source is the cause.
