Three individuals have been arrested in the murder case of a Jefferson City man that left law enforcement with hardly any information or leads just a few days ago. A press conference was held on Wednesday afternoon after Jefferson City police announced the arrest of 23 year old Robert Burks along 25 year old Vincent Smith both from Jefferson City and 17 year old Charles Thompson of St. Louis. Court documents show that Smith and Thompson met with the intent to commit a robbery and they apparently ran into Burks on the street, getting him to give them a ride. A probable cause statement said that Smith suggested the robbery and had admitted to kicking in the rear door of 52 year old Johnny Evans residence on High Street. It is said that while Smith was robbing Evans home, Thompson apparently shot Evans. Evans died while being transported to an area hospital.
