Arson Suspected in Brush Fires Along Highway 52

Arson is suspected in a series of brush fires along Highway 52 yesterday afternoon, near Versailles Avenue west of Tuscumbia.

Several homes were threatened by the windblown flames. Miller County Sheriff Bill Abbott says he doesn’t know if the fires are connected to a series of structure fires in Eldon during the early morning hours of New Year’s Day. Those fires destroyed a shed, a garage, and a vacant house.

The Sheriff’s Department, Eldon Police and the State Fire Marshal’s office are investigating.
