The Morgan County Sheriff’s Department continues to investigate an, apparent, murder from over the weekend. Sheriff Norman Dills says deputies responded on Saturday to a 9-1-1 call at 14968 Highway-N in Stover. The call, according to a press release, came from a male subject not at the location reporting an ongoing assault on his wife. Upon arrival, deputies forced entry into the home before finding an unresponsive male identified as 79-year-old Thomas Chandler, Sr, and a female subject in a hysterical state in an adjacent room. Chandler was pronounced dead at the scene despite life-saving efforts administered by deputies and EMS. The female subject, who is unidentified in the press release, was taken to a local hospital for treatment. An autopsy to determine the cause of death is (was) scheduled for today. The sheriff’s department also says, at this time, there is no reason to believe the public is in any danger as a result of the suspected homicide.
