Last week the Board of Alderman unanimously approved the first reading of an ordinance that allows for the rezoning of the 14 acres next to the restaurant where the new concert venue is to be built.

A second reading is now set for their meeting on October 1st.

To help with noise issues brought up by area residents, the Prewitt’s plan to install a 185-foot sound barrier and place the stage away from the area homes.

Officials say the decision to approve the project stems from over 150 letters that were sent to the board, all showing their support for the project.

A maximum of 12 events are scheduled to be held yearly at the venue.
