Come 2017, residents and visitors in the Lake Area will be noticing quite a bit more work and maintenance on Bagnell Dam, not that there’s anything wrong with the dam but it’s part of a plan by Ameren-Missouri to re-invest in the dam. Alan Sullivan, with Ameren, says a big part of the planned work will be to add weight to the overall structure and put in additional anchors to guard against any unintended movement of the dam.
The original anchors have been in place with no signs of any problematic deterioration since they were installed back in 1980 and 1981. Sullivan goes on to say that Ameren performs routine inspections, testing and surveying of the dam throughout the year. No road closures over the dam are expected during the work.
