It took about a year and a half but the major reliability project to upgrade Bagnell Dam is now history. Ameren-Missouri’s Warren Witt, director of hydro operations, says most of the work was comprised of two main steps.
Witt also says the work was not necessary because of any structural problems with the dam itself but, rather, to ensure the overall stability and safety of the dam when it comes to Mother Nature over the next 50-100 years.
The bottom line: the project cost some $53-million not to mention more than 220 construction jobs were created resulting in an estimated $40-million financial impact on the area through additional spending over the course of the project.
