A Barnett man has been convicted of assault following an attack that took place in October of 2016. Schaffer Chapman was found guilty of second-degree assault. He was accused of attacking David Ruiz when Ruiz was engaged in a dispute with his ex-wife over getting property that was awarded to him in their divorce proceedings. Ruiz suffered three jaw fractures and required staples to close a laceration on his head. Chapman could face up to seven years behind bars when he’s sentenced in February.
