If you’re choosing to partake in the St. Patrick’s Day festivities this weekend, you’re highly encouraged to have a designated driver or some alternate form of transportation. In 2017 185 people were killed and 592 injured in crashes involving at least one impaired driver. 51 of those drivers were under the age of 21. Law enforcement will be watching for any signs of impairment, and in some places, there will be more officers on duty.
That’s Miller County Sheriff Louie Gregoire. You can be sure that other area agencies as well as the Highway Patrol will also have more hands on deck where possible. The simple solution is, if you drink, have someone else drive.
