A court case against an Osage Beach Alderman is bouncing around the court system already. Jeff Bethurem was charged on Thursday with a felony for committing an election offense by signing a false affidavit of candidacy. By the end of the day Friday, the case had already changed hands once and could soon change again. The judge for Division 5 recused himself from the case, transferring it to Division 4. Bethurem’s attorney has now filed a motion to disqualify that judge as well. Bethurem signed an affidavit affirming that he had never been convicted of or plead guilty to a felony or misdemeanor. A review of his criminal history revealed numerous misdemeanor convictions in Missouri.
