Thousands of motorcycles converging on the Lake Area over the past week and weekend have, for the most part, departed the area and Bikefest is being called another success. Local law enforcement was bolstered for the weekend including the presence of a few extra Highway Patrol troopers. In the end, however, Camden County Sergeant Scott Hines says it was a relatively calm weekend except for, perhaps, a lot more traffic.
Although just about the entire Lake Area benefited from the yearly event, the main gathering of bikers seemed to be along the Strip in Lake Ozark. Police Chief Gary Launderville echoed Hines saying the increased presence of law enforcement may have contributed to fewer problems for the law and more activity, instead, at the cash registers.
