In overwhelming fashion, the House voted to pass a bill attempting to obtain more information on money spent on lawsuit settlements. In a vote of 150-1 on Thursday, the House passed the bill to the Senate. It would require both the attorney general and administration commissioner to provide monthly reports to the lawmakers regarding legal expenses. This comes after Kansas City reporter Karen Dillon uncovered numerous lawsuits surrounding harassment and discrimination claims by prison employees. Dillon says millions of dollars have been paid out for these lawsuits.
The bill has until May 12th to receive Senate approval.
