A House Bill seeking to prohibit individuals delinquent in child support from participating in the supplemental nutrition assistance program is, currently, at a standstill in the General Assembly. The bill, which is sponsored by the Lake Area’s Diane Franklin, would only disqualify the individual and not the entire household from participating in the nutrition assistance program. Most recently, the bill was taken up at the end of February by the House Children and Families Committee. No action on the bill was reported.
