Senator Roy Blunt is one of almost forty senators that want to make sure gas prices can be kept in check.
The senator has introduced the Gas Accessibility and Stabilization Act.
“[It] gives the Administration the ability to waive the boutique fuel standards and have gas become a commodity for a short period of time,” Blunt said.
The boutique fuels are used in Missouri’s large cities. The bill is similar to legislation Blunt introduced for natural disasters several years ago.
“Now we are going to things that would otherwise disrupt the supply like the closing of the Suez Canal or a refinery goes down to allow us to get more gas to the gas pumps at a time when we clearly anticipate there’s going to be a lot of concern about gas prices and potential disruption of those gas prices.”
