Missouri Senator Roy Blunt is hailing a decision, Tuesday, by the U.S. Court of Federal Claims in its determination that the Army Corps of Engineers is liable for historic flooding along the Missouri River. The senator issued a statement saying he is pleased that the court has found what’s been said for more than a decade by Missouri families, farmers and business owners who have been impacted by the Corp’s mismanagement of the river resulting in widespread damages with substantial costs. In six of the eight years between 2007 and 2014, most notably in 2011,flooding along the Missouri River caused significant problems and damages. The court ruling finds the Corps of Engineers liable for the flooding based on its management plan prioritizing fish and wildlife over flood management.
