U.S. Senator Roy Blunt met with several police departments Monday as he traveled across the state to discuss tactics and equipment used by law enforcement. Blunt says he supports the use of military style equipment by police but thinks they should consider their needs carefully. Under a Federal program, the Department of Defense gives local and state police the opportunity to get equipment not used by the Pentagon. Blunt believes local law enforcement agencies are in the best position to determine how much of the equipment is needed.
