City staff will be gathering more data for the city board in Osage Beach before they make a decision on the future of a possible smoking ban. In the city’s discussion last night, several business owners and citizens stepped forward, speaking against any ban. Board President Steve Kahrs was the only alderman present to say he would vote against any ban regardless of the data the staff gathers. Kahrs said simply it is up to the individual business owner.
There are several options on the table including putting the issue to a vote, new regulations for ventilation or enclosures in smoking areas, opening public forums for businesses and citizens to address the issue, or taking no action at all.
