Boat Mechanics Remain In Short Supply Despite Local Training Programs

Lake of the Ozarks is dealing with a shortage of boat mechanics.

But the Lake Career and Technical Center is working to change that with a course called Marine Service Technology.

Cassie Keeney is a counselor at LCTC and she tells KRMS News graduates of the course are usually placed in a job right away.

She says the course at LCTC gives adult students numerous credentials and certifications, but also hands on training outside the classroom.

Instructor Tim Keeney tells KRMS News boats are getting more complicated on the technical end, and the demand for qualified technicians to work on them is going to increase.
