With the talk of a new Uber-type boat company coming to the lake, many people are wondering if any of those companies will come to land at the lake. Both Lake Ozark Chief Gary Launderville and Osage Beach Lieutenant Michael O’Day say that, at the current time, there are no regulations against a rideshare company operating in their respective cities. Just last week, the Missouri House passed a rideshare bill to the Senate that would require the companies to administer background checks and obtain the proper insurance and permits. It would also prohibit a municipality from imposing a tax on a driver or require them to get a special license. The bill has received its second vote in the Senate and was referred to a committee.
