It seems it’s been a busy year for boating accidents at the lake, but statistics indicate just the opposite. According to Troop F of the Highway Patrol, preliminary numbers show a decline for incidents occurring on Lake of the Ozarks. From January 1st through October 1st of 2018, there had been 85 boating crashes with 62 injuries. Through the same time period this year, those numbers are down. There had been 75 boating crashes as of the beginning of this month, resulting in 47 injuries. Last year there were three drownings. That’s up by one this year. Charges for boating while intoxicated are way down, from 82 to 54.
