Ozark Shores Water Company and Camden County Public Water Supply District Number Four have issued a boil advisory for customers living along Duckhead Road on Horseshoe Bend, after a water main was damaged by a contractor working in the area:
Water Company general manager John Summers says residents in the affected area should boil tap water used for cooking or drinking:
The following precautions are recommended:
– Boil water vigorously for three minutes prior to use. Use only water that has been boiled for drinking, diluting fruit juices, all other food preparation and brushing teeth.
– Dispose of ice cubes and do not use ice from a household automatic ice maker. Remake ice cubes with water that has been boiled..
– Disinfect dishes and other food contact surfaces by immersion for at least one minute in clean tap water that contains one teaspoon of unscented household bleach per gallon of water.
The boil advisory was issued as a precaution and will emain in effect until the district receives the results of its water tests, expected on Friday:
An estimated 100-200 homes are affected.
