The state of Missouri will be spending some money on trails in southwest Missouri. Governor jay nixon traveled to the north edge of Springfield Thursday to announce almost $300,000 in funding for bicycle and pedestrian trails.
The closest project to the lake area is in Bolivar. That city will receive just over $85,000 to construct 1.8 miles of an accessible healthy living trail. The trail will will be a mixture of pavement and crushed gravel and will connect the city swimming pool, skate park, and Frisco High Line Rail to Trail which is part of the Ozark Greenways Trail Network.
Altogether the Missouri Department of Natural Resources trail program will contribute $2.3 million dollars to support 32 trail projects across the state.
