A fire at a Sunrise Beach condominium complex Sunday night caused significant damages.
Chief Dennis Reilly said the blaze at 11 West condos drew a regional response, with all available first responders providing mutual assistance. That included both fire trucks as well as boats. Heroic actions of one of the residents may have saved lives.
The last units cleared the scene at 9:30 Monday morning. The cause of the fire is under investigation by the State Fire Marshal’s office.
Not many details are available, but a late night fire destroyed at least one condominium building in Sunrise Beach. Several fire departments and fire boats responded Sunday night to the 11 West condominium complex near the end of Route-TT. Reports on social media are indicating that everyone, and pets, were able to escape from the blaze partly due to someone at the complex going door-to-door alerting residents about the fire. KRMS News will pass details as they become available.
