UPDATE: The Morgan County Sheriff’s office says the pursuit began in Tipton and was the responsibility of their law enforcement….other than being notified that the pursuit was coming through on Route 50, the Morgan County Sheriff’s office did not actively participate.
What started out as an, apparent, routine traffic stop in Morgan County quickly escalated into a manhunt Monday afternoon. Reports indicate the sequence of events started around 5-PM in the area near Tipton when one of the subjects in the car gave authorities a false identity before taking off on foot. He was identified as 36-year-old Eric Carlson, formerly of Versailles, who now has a Branson address according to courthouse records. Courthouse records also show that Carlson has three active no-bond warrants outstanding for his arrest…two for failing to appear on probation violations out of Camden and Morgan Counties and the other for failing to appear on an open case in Morgan County on charges of possessing a controlled substance and endangering the welfare of a child involving drugs. There were, reportedly, two others in the car. No other details were available heading into the early evening hours.
