A Miller County murder suspect finds himself with a new charge of attempting to escape from custody. Joseph McKenna, from Chicago, had bonded out on his original charges of murder, armed criminal action and tampering with a witness but was picked up again, the second time in Arkansas, allegedly, in possession of a large amount of marijuana and a handgun which matched the ballistic report of the weapon used in the killing of Tyler Worthington, from California. Worthington was killed when the two met up in the Lake Area for a drug deal that went bad. It’s alleged that McKenna was trying to file his way out of a holding cell so he could meet up with someone in Jefferson City to “take care of a witness.” He is now being held, also without bond, on the new charge of attempted escape. KRMS News will pass along more details when available from the Miller County Courthouse.
