Tragedy marks the beginning of Shootout weekend here at the Lake of the Ozarks with several people presumed dead following a horrific boat accident just after 7:00 Friday night. Sergeant Scott White says emergency personnel from several agencies responded to the scene near the 10-mile marker and, upon arrival, confirmed that a catamaran, apparently out of Louisiana, was overturned with an unknown number of people in the water…reportedly including at least one child. The response was quickly considered a recovery operation. Divers and side sonar scans were not able to locate any of the victims…perhaps as many as 4-8 according to some unconfirmed witness reports. The water in the area of the crash is about 80 feet deep and the recovery operation was suspended around 9:00 Friday night. A temporary no-wake zone will be enforced in the area when the recovery efforts continue around 7:00 Saturday morning.
