BREAKING: Sunrise Beach Police Chief Jeff Campbell says they have a suspicious package along Highway 5 across from Oakstar Bank. A letter carrier contacted police upon discovery of the package, which was left on the ground near a mailbox. It’s described as being roughly just larger than a cantaloupe….it’s wrapped in foil with a note that says “Open me….I’m not dangerous.” Firefighters and law enforcement are on scene including the Highway Patrol with an X-Ray machine. Please avoid the area. Anyone with information about the package, how it got there, who may have left it, etc. should contact Sunrise Beach Police immediately….do so by calling 9-1-1 or the Morgan County Dispatch Center at 573-378-5481…press zero at the recording and tell them you need to speak to Sunrise Beach Police.
